WBMHA Newsletter…
This is an update for all WBMHA members to advise them of the upcoming Annual General Meeting, some changes to our fee schedule and an overview of Association goals.
The Annual General Meeting will be held upstairs at the arena on Sunday April 25th beginning at 1:00 pm. This meeting is open to all current members and is held to make changes to our Constitution and elect the Executive that will carry on through the 2010/2011 hockey season. All members are welcome to submit, in writing, any proposed amendments to our Constitution 30 days prior to the meeting; amendments can be directed through the WBMHA secretary. It's important to remember that this meeting is not operated as an open forum; any concerns/suggestions about the current season can be posed at any time in writing to the Executive as a whole.
With regard to registration fees, rising costs of operation and the implementation of the HST means that it will be necessary to increase registration costs in order to maintain the overall health of WBMHA. Our registration fees have not kept pace with increased expenses. Provided with this newsletter you will see a comparative chart showing registration costs at hockey associations throughout the Georgian Bay Triangle. Many of these centres incur additional costs to pay for many services like time box officials, etc. We are one of the last centres to maintain a Bond Hour program whereby members are able to volunteer their time in order to keep their costs low. It should be noted that, even with the fee increase, playing hockey in Wasaga Beach still costs less than the average of the Georgian Bay Triangle associations.
As an incentive to attend the AGM, members will be offered a $25 discount per player provided they attend the entire meeting (ie. are signed in to the meeting and registered as quorum) and provided that they register their players on that day after the meeting.
2009/2010 has been a year for the WBMHA to move forward. New jerseys on our Midget and Bantam Rep/AE teams look great…the current Executive has a goal to see every division/team in new jerseys by the end of the 2011/2012 season. There was a return to Fundraising for the organization this year with many successes…it is hoped that these efforts will continue in order to provide for our players. There are plans to utilize pre-season ice time to our advantage with possible coaching clinics and player clinics being conducted. Clinics such as these are key to providing training to all members but can also act as fundraisers to further our organization's goals.
We encourage all members to consider volunteering for the WBMHA. Coaches and coaching staff are always needed; make note that all Rep coaching applications must be received by May 30, 2010 with interviews being conducted June 13, 2010. AE coach interviews will take place Wednesday September 8, 2010 and Local League coaches will be interviewed on Wednesday September 15, 2010.
You will see a basic outline of the new fee schedule with this newsletter … further information on registration dates, age categories and forms will be available at www.wasagaminorhockey.com
